European Hake

Hake are members of the cod family and can be found at depths of over 1,000 metres. Even though taste and texture can vary, they all tend to have a milder taste, softer texture and smaller flake than cod. Peak season is between April to September.

The ratio between the weight of the whole fish and the fillets is 2, which means that for a fish of 1kg, you will get around 500g of fillets.

One fish of about 1kg will be enough as a starter for 8 and a main course for 4.
