螄蚶是雙殼類軟體動物，生活在沿海潮間帶和潟湖水面以上一兩米深的地方。

螄蚶同蜆的分別在於螄蚶比較稀有，肉質更鮮甜，幾蒸，煮方式烹調會更能帶出鮮甜。
