Dog cockles are a seafood delicacy in European countries and are called ‘Amandes de mer’ by the French, meaning ‘Sea Almonds’ because they have a sweet, almond-like taste.

Put the dog cockle in hot stock for about few minutes and the shell opens easily. It is delicious in fish soup especially!

Dog Cockles can’t be freeze live. You need to cook them first or remove the meat from the shell then freeze them.
